my surgery hasn't been too bad, just delayed due to the infection. I was scared too, but in hindsight it's not awful

I used to get extremely sore feet, my heel would hurt, arch of my foot and over the top. I would get tingling in my toes and they would sometimes get hot. I would end up limping around everywhere. They make the incision and go up the side of the ankle, release the nerve from there, go down under the foot and release the trapped nerve and then do the partial release of the PF muscle.

Thanks. Sounds awful. I have pain at the PF insertion point and random other spots on my heel. No tear, but do have a spur and thickening of the fascia. Numbness at insertion point area which triggers tingling in my first two toes when pressed. Foot sometimes feels cold sensation. Physio did Tinels test for tarsal tunnel which was positive. I thought that was strange seeing I only get pain under my foot. Now I’m not sure where or if I have entrapment. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

This is now, still recovering after the infection, but doing so much better!

what do you think led to infection in hindsight? Anything you would do differently?

after the surgery, they put a big plaster on, bandaged it up and put a moon boot on. My discharge summary said, remove the boot and big bandages after 7 days and then keep the plaster and boot on for another 7 days - the nurse was then going to check it on all and change the plaster etc. She said I bled out quite abit and so I had a gross plaster sitting on my skin for 2 weeks, which was soaking wet and was slowly drying. It compromised the skin and hence ended up with an infection. In hindsight, i would have contacted the surgeon sooner to find out why the plaster looked dark ( we weren't sure if it was blood or iodine ). Was really gross. I would find a better surgeon and would make sure if unsure, to push harder to get answers- my surgeon was abit crap to deal with

thats interesting. They never offered me that. I just carried on with my Gabapentin tablets and slowly weaned off them. The pain wasnt too bad, i had pain killers, anti-inflammatories and rest, I didn't feel like I needed anything else.

yes Dr mentioned he is the only one right now using it at the time of nerve entrapment surgery I think it’s more frequently used after surgery if there is continued pain or issues then they sometimes do a procedure to implant it temporarily or even permanently. I tried gabepentin but had an allergic reaction to it
