My question is: because she is younger, and very active, will she recover faster than an adult. I’m also worried about pain management; I do not want to pump pain pills in her, but also don’t want her to be in pain. Can she come off of these pretty quickly, with Advil/tylenol as the alternative? Realistic expectations for returning to school, etc. Anyone else have their child go through this. Has anyone had any experience with flying around 12 weeks after this type of surgery? How did it go? Were you able to walk comfortably during your trip? Shared post Fiona Morris 5 weeks post op, ive taken off my ortho shoe whenever im sitting down and am placing my foot on the ground - no weight (10 days I’ll be able to take off shoe and bandages for good so just building confidence). did anyone else notice the sole of their foot had turned to ‘padding’? it’s not flat to the ground, it’s like the sole of my foot has become very soft and more like padding as opposed to a solid foot sole! Well, folks…guess who decided to go for a drive today?! 👀…ME! 🤪 I asked my husband to ride with me for a test drive around town because I wanted to see how my foot would handle it. I ended up driving around for about 15 minutes, going anywhere from 15-30mph, (depending on where we were) and then we agreed for me to go ahead and be the one to make the drive to our chosen diner for lunch. The diner is only 30 miles away. The speed limit there and back fluctuates btwn 35-55mph. The entire drive went GREAT! The brake pedal didn’t bother my foot/toe at all!!! No pain or anything. 🙏🏽 I’m proud of myself for taking the opportunity to at least try it. If it would’ve become an issue for my foot, my husband was there to take over. 🥰 Thankfully, that didn’t happen and his “assistance” wasn’t necessary. We enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere and conversation between us as well as with other customers and staff. On the drive back home, we stopped at a roadside produce stand and got lots a fresh, homegrown goodies. 😀 Overall, I really, really enjoyed myself. I needed THIS so much. We’re safely back home now and I’m in the process of preparing food to cook for this evening’s dinner as we’re having company over later. This surgery isn’t easy. Neither is the recovery. Day 5 I started with moderate pain, which was controlled with pain meds. Now day 8 post-op it mainly hurts if I mistakenly step on it. Still in boot walking on heel with walker. I continue my meds to prevent any further pain. I am on Journavx and Pregabalin, Gabapentin for another diagnosis, and Tylenol and Ibuprofen on my own. Shared post
