Can anyone tell me about the newer surgery for bunions?

Can anyone tell me about the newer surgery for bunions? The Lapiplasty. I think that’s what it’s called? I just saw two posts about the plates and screws, which I was told by my podiatrist that they use plates and screws, not pins in this surgery. I want to get opinions about the lapiplasty. I’m afraid of the old surgery because it’s so invasive, and I’ve heard horror stories. I’m in so much pain. All the sudden in the last 2 weeks my pain is intolerable. It just went from bad to worse. I can’t continue like this. I see the podiatrist a week from Tuesday. I’m thinking about scheduling the surgery that day, but I don’t know anyone that’s had the new surgery? I don’t want to go into this blind. Please advise if you can. Thank you so much, I would truly appreciate any information and experiences anyone has had.

It is fusion. I would not recommend it. How about minimally invasive surgery? I had it and I was able to walk in my boot on my heel right away. Nothing is fused and only 3 tiny cuts. No pain to very little pain.

Lapiplasty is new and so is minimally invasive bunionectomy. I do not like what I have seen on Facebook and what I have read about lapiplasty. How bad are your feet? Get more than one opinion. There is another procedure called Akin Osteotomy that may also be a good option for you.

my feet are absolutely awful. I have blisters between my big toe that is pressing on the next toe. My calluses are really thick and painful. My toes are crooked I can’t wear shoes. I can barely walk because of all of this. I put off the bunion surgery because I’d heard such horrible things about it. I have to do something now. I need my life back! Thank you so much for responding to me. I so appreciate you. I see my podiatrist April 30th.

I have an appointment on April 30th. The doctor will have my X-rays and tell me about the surgery. He was going to do the Lapiplasty. BUT, I want more information before I do anything. The problem is I am in excruciating pain and can barely walk. My intent was after my appointment on the 30th, I was going to schedule the surgery ASAP. Now I’ve heard some things that make me concerned. I need to hear from people who have had this surgery Lapiplasty. If it isn’t the right surgery, I need information on another surgery, not the old surgery where they shave off the bone and put pins in your toes. The problem is I have to have the surgery very soon due to my pain and not being able to Walk some days. So please advise, I need help and all the information I can get. Thank you so much!
