Had my bunion surgery 8/6 of last year, was out of work until 10/17. Did everything I was suppose to including all my therapy, still the bone didn't heal properly, I still get pain and swelling, and still unable to wear sneakers without pain. Now my Dr wants to redo the surgery and replace the metal plate, anyone have to do it twice.

I also had to have a revision, 11 months after the first surgery. I'm almost a year out on the revision, it's slow going. I'm sorry that you're in this position. xo

Physical Therapy never helped me I was in pain for 2 years. And finally got my hardware out

I did.🙋‍♀️I had a non union - bone didn't grow together. First surgery was 12-30-25. Second surgery was 7-21-26. I walked around for 7 months with a broken foot and it was miserable. Second time I researched (Googled, AI, Looked at the Dr review boards, etc). I chose a Dr with good ratings/reviews. I asked LOTS of questions including asking what he would do differently from the other Dr to have success. He took out the plate, 4 screws and a couple of staples. I have two staples now and that's it! I have transitioned to a walking boot. Much less swelling and pain than last time. For me, getting a highly recommend Dr has made all the difference. Do your research before you let the same guy who didn't get it right the first time give it another try.

, I remember some of your posts from last year. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve continued to experience pain with walking and that the bone hasn’t properly healed. Does your surgeon suspect that the metal plate is the issue, if so, what will replace the metal plate?

apparently the bones are not fusing together. So they want to remove the plate and screws and insert a new one. She said its never happened to a surgery she did before, I'm curious if she messed up and doesn't want to admit it
