Has anyone gone to see a sport physician after a referral for bone oedema and the child has been in pain for 10 weeks to be told that young females seem that their brain overreacts to the pain and to take antidepressants at a low dose so they can sleep and retrain the brain to say it doesn’t hurt. Her foot is so tender and is swollen. She definitely hasn’t overreacted. If I touch her arch I can bring her to tears. Not only that he said I don’t mind her walking on the side of her foot. I like his theory but she’s really struggling.

Yes. New physician. What imaging has she had? HSS in Paramus has a a department called ortho now. Sort of an ortho ER I would hope they treat children I saw a Dr Wang last year. He found a stress fracture that didn’t show on xray. I had a stress fracture that didn’t show up on Xray. I saw a non surgical orthopedic in that department. He ordered an MRI and discovered a stress fracture the xray didnt pick up. I wish you luck. She’s young she needs more than to walk on the side of her feet

So that sounds nuts! Bone edema is likely a stress injury. Camwalkwer or cast for rest.
