Has anyone had lapidus surgery ? What’s the difference between that and lapiplasty ? I’m 7 weeks po and the dr said my bunion area is inflamed, but to me it looks like I still have a bunion …also I don’t know what shoes to wear now that I’m out of the boot

Lapiplasty is a company that created a modification to the Lapidus with jigs to be used and two plates with (?14 screws) to rotate and fuse the joint. The Lapidus is a procedure to fuse the first metatarsal cuneiform joint. It was originally performed by suturing the joint together with absorbable sutures. It is not a MIS surgery (minimally invasive) and original MIS surgery doesn’t use any screws or plates as well. With companies, similar to Lapiplasty, making hardware = making money, they are now all trying to develop screws for MIS surgery, however they are not needed

Yes , I got mine done last August. Keep your foot warm on cold days. Cause the pain can be intense

I had regular bunion surgery about 19 years ago on both feet. After surgery I felt he did not cut enough off and still had a bump. I was not happy the way it looked or felt. I am now in need of the surgery again! I am researching all options before I do it again and this time going to straight ask the doctor to make sure enough is removed and I never need a 3rd surgery.
