Hi everyone!!! I had both feet done 7/23 and 8/28 I’m ready o go back to normal but unfortunately my feet are not. Just wondering how long does it take before you forget you even had MIS?

I’m six months postop and still having a hard time sometimes. Had to walk in a long airport this week and my foot was killing me. It wasn’t the toe though, it’s the top of my foot. I have arthritis as well as the bunion that was repaired. And arthritis on the other foot with still a bunion. My next surgery is in a month. And I am accepting the fact that there will still be pain due to the arthritis. The doctor told me as the foot positioned itself, arthritis might get better. But it hasn’t. I think some of us expect all of our issues to go away when only one thing has been fixed. At least that’s what happened to me. But then I am 74. 🤦♀️🤷♀️
I’m 3 years out and sadly haven’t forgotten but also able to do everything as before🤷🏼♀️
I’m 2 weeks and a day out and only complaint right now is I’m still in a boot and a splint for 2 more weeks. Big toe did swell more yesterday. I work from home and didn’t prop it up as much
I had mis on one foot on 7/23. Last week I transitioned from surgical boot to sneakers. My surgeon told me 12 weeks was needed to completely heal. My foot is stiff and sometimes has mild pain. My walking foot movement is far from normal. PT is helpful.
I feel like everyone has been saying they were able to walk and go back to work within a week or two. I'm on my third week and I still can not walk without crutches. I have been extremely frustrated that my recovery has been much slower. I was in immense pain my first and some of my second week. Pain pills weren't touching my pain, got no sleep, didn't start walking on it until my second week even though I was cleared to walk on it right away. I've just accepted that everyone's recovery looks different. I don't know how you did two one is enough to make me go crazy and not want to do my other foot 😮💨.
... For me I'd say a month but everyone's journey is different and weight-bearing isn't quite the same as walking with full range of motion. I was lucky because I had two weeks off work, but had previous holiday booked. This gave me a total of 5 weeks off...which I'm happy to have had I have no regrets about having MIS. But you may need more than just two weeks.
At what week did most of you start pt
I had mine done 9/2 I just went back to work yesterday. Started walking again Thursday when I had my post op appointment, I’m in the boot for another 4 weeks and then next week I can take the wrap off and start using toe spacers. The last time I had this done 16 years ago, it was a whole different experience. After stitches removed, I went into a hard cast for 4-6 weeks and then a boot for another 4-6 weeks.
I’m 2+ weeks out and just started pt. 2 days ago Passive stretching of my big toe. I’m supposed to do it five times a day but I’m not even close to that. My toe swells and my pain levels go up too much.
don't be frustrated! Same here, I wasn't cleared to even wear a sneaker and "walk" until 7 weeks. I think it's more common to have a slower path to healing!
ugh it's so hard to not be. I'm a medical assistant and all I can think about is going back to work and I'm still walking like a zombie and it hurts to not be elevated. It blows my mind when people say it only took them 10 days and they had minimal pain. My doctor told me I can start transitioning to a sneaker at about 6 weeks. I can't wait until this is all finally over! 😮💨
I feel you 😭 I cannot comprehend and most definitely am envious of friends here who seemed to be back to normal so quickly. We will be back in no time! Do you have any nerve pain? I've been taking a supplement that has helped a lot. But still I don't see how I can't feel "normal" until 6 months
