How many weeks in did people drive again Shared post Buffy Baylis Because I have a painful bunion on my right foot, the only shoes I can wear are the giant clunky Brooke's tennis shoes (Ghost Max 3s). Those shoes don't go with anything except for leggings. I know this sounds shallow but I've lost my confidence and I don't feel attractive anymore. I like to wear dresses and pretty skirts but those Brooke's absolutely destroy an outfit! Can anyone relate? Shared post InspiringChipmunk8488 I cannot have surgery anytime soon. I don’t have insurance or the money. That’s not the question though. I want to exercise. Go to the gym, walk, etc. I wear flip flops 95% of the time because it’s the only shoe that doesn’t hurt. My bunion isn’t even horrible visually, but it hurts if socks or shoes touch. Then hurts afterwards. What shoes would hurt the least? Or what can I do? I saw a podiatrist this week thinking I'd come away with insoles and exercises, but in fact I was advised to have surgery - scarf osteotomy and arthoplasty. I'd describe my bunions as mild, with pain mostly from impact on second toe. The op will be NHS, but the bigger cost to me is loss of earnings. I have a desk job and work from home, but get a day rate based on days worked so don't get sick pay. So my big question is, how long should I expect to take off work? Is it feasible to sit up with a laptop and foot raised after a week or two, or am I kidding myself? And how long before I will be able to drive (although this is less important)? I appreciate it can vary a lot between people but just want to get some idea of whether I can afford it! Hi.
