That’s great. My surgeon didn’t say anything abt pt. I’m abt 9 weeks post op and still am having difficulty walking. Pain my toes an under the ball of my foot. I tire easily (wasn’t like this before surgery) and my knees hurt. Foot swells up after a walk

I am 8wks post-op.
I am 8wks post-op. Surgery date: June 24th Procedure: Traditional (Scarf/Reese) Surgeon: Podiatrist Yesterday during my pt session, my therapist and I discussed my overall progress and we both agreed that I can go ahead and discontinue her services at this time. I will continue performing the dorsiflexion exercise with end range holds of 30-45 seconds 2-3x daily with primary focus being decreasing the minimal stiffness that I have in my toe. I will also continue massaging the base of my toe due to a small pocket of stubborn swelling. That’s the only swelling I have! The bone graft continues to heal well and I don’t have any pain. Not even after wearing or walking in my shoes all day. My surgeon has cleared me to return to work next week (August 27th) without restrictions!! I hope you all have a blessed day.

Congratulations! Praise the Lord!
Fabulous news and progress !! 👏👏👏
... That is fantastic news!! 🎉🎉🎉 Your PT aftercare is very impressive, so I really appreciate you sharing the notes, because it's a little different in my part of the world. Do you feel ready to return? I'm sure the people you work with can't wait to see you again! Make sure the employer rolls out the red carpet! 😅
Natasha, this is such great news! All your patience and hard work paid off! I hope you continue to feel good on your feet at work!
Thank you, Dolly! Even though your surgeon didn’t mention pt, are you able to request a referral? Idk where you reside (I’m in WI). I was able to request a pt referral prior to both surgeries and had all of my appts scheduled in advance. I truly, truly believe that pt is very important in our recovery journey. Even 1-2 visits with a professional would help, just to ensure you’re properly shown how to do the exercises at certain stages in your recovery. If you’re unable to get a referral or if the price of the service isn’t doable, try YouTube. That’s where I started with my exercises both times. Just search “post-bunion surgery exercises”. There’s so many. I hope this helps and I hope you’re able to find relief from the pain and swelling.
thank you. I’m from N.Y. I will ask for PT referral.
You’re welcome, Dolly! I hope you’ll get to attend pt and that you’ll benefit from and enjoy it!
Thank you, Patty!
Thank you, Amanda! I’m so excited 🤪. It’s been a long road and I’m so ready to get back to my normal, busy routine. I hope your recovery continues positively.
Thank you, Ty! Yes, I’m so ready to get back to work. There’s only so much I can do at this point to keep myself busy trying to ward off boredom, lol. I really miss my residents and most of my coworkers. I can’t wait to get back into the groove of work/life balance. If they don’t roll out that cherry red carpet, I might moonwalk into the building 😂. Either way, I’m gonna be there smiling ear-to-ear. I hope your recovery continues to go well.
Thank you so much, Louise!
