I am about two months and two weeks out from my MIS bunion surgery on my right foot, and earlier today, I had my consultation to go through this crazy dance again on my left foot. Luckily, it's with the same surgeon, who was able to set the date for the left and assess my right foot. I am making good progress. But because Temu doesn’t sell magical lamps that come with blue comedic genies, these are the 3 post-op challenges that I wasn’t quite able to follow to the letter the first time... 20+ hours of leg elevation. The idea of lying around with my legs elevated all day is nice in theory, but when you have young children with no mercy, I’ve got more chance of making it somewhere over the rainbow where happy little bluebirds fly... But I did my best. Sleeping on my back (with elevated legs) I just couldn’t do it, and if I did, I'd snore so loud Mrs. Pie would draft the divorce papers. So, I had to do some weird front/side version with pillows. Some nights it worked well. Other times...not so much. Doing too much too soon? I’m all for sitting down all day and watching my guilty pleasure"Is It Cake" on Netflix; however, it is difficult not doing anything, so I had to learn the hard way in relation to putting as much effort into rest and recovery as I did into activity. The moral of the story? Listen to the wisdom of Aretha and give "respect" to the process. Rest, relax, recover and repeat. Take good care of yourselves my friends.

Hi yes I had the same problem had my surgery in April still like it now unfortunately I'm unable to wear flip flops now as have two screws in my foot . Some shoes I can't get my foot into and need a wide fit .

Love your sense of humor🤣 I thought minimally invasive was supposed to be quicker recovery. Are you finding that? Are you weight-bearing yet with or without a boot?

...thank you my friend. With MIS I have been able to "weight bare" from day one...but... it's not the same as walking with full range of motion. So I would say for me it took about a month before I felt I could walk comfortably in shoes...as it was more of a Zombie shuffle before that. 😅

Do you have any issue fitting in shoes? I’m about 3 months after my surgery- and one foot is slightly larger than the other - I guess because it’s still healing and gets swollen. I bought some new shoes this past weekend and decided to go up half a size.. which is tricky because my left shoe will now be slightly loose.

, as my second toe is longer, I have to find shoes that accommodate that. But the swelling will go down eventually, but it can take from 3 months to a year. At the moment, like you, I wear shoes half a size bigger.

Overall looks good. Minimal swelling. Should have had 2nd toe shortened at the same time as it my present some issues in the future being longer now that the 1st digit was shortened with the procedure you had done. Just my thoughts as an MIS surgeon for 40 years.
