I had trauma/injury to my right side of my right foot tripping badly in mid May, about 12 weeks ago. I still have pain on the right side of my right foot and a lot of swelling all over my entire foot. Here are my x-rays. I am in need of another opinion. 1. Is there any evidence of a possible fracture anywhere on my foot? 2. If so, does it look like the bone is healing normally? 3. If not, does the bone look like a nonunion, needing intervention/surgery? 4. Based on the x-rays, is it safe to put weight on my foot and walk without causing any bones to shift more/crack further/not heal correctly? If so, should I be in a walking boot? 5. Do these x-rays look blurry? Technician did not allow me to remove my sock so I'm wondering if I need new clearer x-rays to see any possible small fracture. It would be helpful to know your background in this area if you respond. Thank you for your help!

I am not a doctor. I would encourage you to go to an orthopedic doctor (not a podiatrist) get some new x-rays. I suffered from foot pain for almost a year due to a misdiagnosed collapsed talus (ankle bone). You need some definite answers.

I’m a podiatrist. Those are not good quality X-rays. It appears there are fractures at the heads of metatarsal 4&5. New X-rays should be taken.

You need an MRI. 2 times I have had significant injuries that X-rays didn’t pick up. One caused the fractured bone to spontaneously fuse and deform. I shouldn’t have been walking on it. Please seek another opinion and insist on an MRI

With persistent pain and swelling 12 weeks after an injury, getting an in-person evaluation and second opinion sounds like a wise next step. Hope you get some clear answers and a proper treatment plan soon!
