I’m due to have surgery in a couple weeks and am starting to feel anxious about the recovery time. Please can you tell me how the recovery was? I’m having my big & second toe screwed, so really hoping it won’t revert back! I have a little boy and am just worried how long I will be out of action and how much I can do! I could have all of the necessary items post-op, but never could I have imagined all of this. This is my first “major” surgery. But I also only had help for two days after, in a boot for 4 weeks, 3 dogs, bored, and feel useless and needy. Shirley Hab Going to the foot doctor this week. I know he will say I need surgery for my bunion. My problem is I live in a 2 story house! Years ago I broke my ankle and could barely manage with the stairs then. Im now 68 and I know anything I did last time I wont be able to do at all this time. Anyone else get surgery at an older age and live in a 2 story house? Also I dont think I can take much in pain relievers either. I can walk normally but it is still painful and there is still some swelling. Those whom have been through this how long till I am pain free and my foot will reduce back to its normal size? I know I’m impatient but I was u see the impression I’d be back up and running 8weeks on and in normal shoes not just trainers. Becky Michele I’m frustrated. I went into a sneaker (as per my Dr order at my 5 week post op) It felt weird but I did it because that’s what I was told to do. I wore the sneaker for a few hours and then took it off at home and had to elevate and ice. I wore the sneakers to work Friday. I was miserable. My foot was swollen, I had to ice it once at work and when I came home.
