I think I can kinda relate to what Ariel was going through, because since my MIS bunion surgery, about 8 weeks ago, I have yearned to be a part of the human world again so I could walk, run, and play all day in the sun. I can't quite run, but I can comfortably walk and play in the sun if it isn't over 24°C (75°F). The zingers are like mosquito bites; I have an occasional random visit, but they are far less frequent than before, and the swelling at the base of my toe is getting better. I don't have full range of motion through the big toe, but walking feels normal and my Zombie shuffle is no more. I can't quite do a forward or reverse lunge, but I can pretty much manage my other exercises, which include using my dumbbells, core/mobility, and carrying all the groceries from the car with no help, assistance, or sympathy from my family! The biggest issue is trying to act like both Prince Charming and Cinderella, because it's taken me a while to match the right shoe to a foot that only I could love. I used to be a regular-sized UK 11 (US: 12 / EU: 46), but through trial, error, and a great Amazon return policy, I've found that I'm now a UK 11.5 (US: 12.5 / EU: 47) and 4E width. This has given me enough room for my longer second toes, and enough space for my toes to spread. Although, I have to now wonder if my bunions are genetic, developed through ill-fitting shoes, or a combination of the two? My in-person follow-up appointment with my surgeon is in early October; however, after another follow-up call, I feel like there ain't no mountain high enough, valley low enough or river wide enough to keep me from continuing to make progress. Take good care of yourselves, my friends.

Great update, Ty! Walking comfortably and without pain is the goal that we all deserve. I’m happy you’ve achieved that. Those zingers just suck! I hated them so much. They had me doing fist pumps while grunting and grinding my teeth 😂. For you to be able to resume the exercises you enjoy is a beautiful accomplishment. This journey can feel long and arduous. Once one starts to see the “finish line”, there’s no stopping us. I didn’t have to go up in shoe sizes, thankfully. I’ve read several posts over the past year or so, where other group members have had to do the same. How did your foot feel the first couple of times you walked in the new size? With your positivity and commitment to healing, I have no doubt that you’ll continue making brilliant progress.

...I sincerely wish you the very best my friend. Initially, there will be challenges but I've no doubt you will come through.

hope you have a smooth recovery I’m a bit nervous but I’ve heard great things about my surgeon and all reviews are amazing. I’ll be having this -CORRECTION, HALLUX VALGUS (BUNION), WITH OR WITHOUT SESAMOIDECTOMY; BY DOUBLE OSTEOTOMY

oh great. I’m seeing Dr DeNucci in Scottsdale who teaches the method to other surgeons as well so I’m hoping and praying! Hopefully, we’ll both be in good hands! I had traditional tailors bunion before on one foot only and it was horrendous. He assures me it’s not going to be like that🙏

I’ve seen so many horror stories which is what made me not get it sooner but technology has improved so much over the years. But dealing with bunions on both feel my whole life as an athlete has been so hard and now that I’m older I it’s about time. I’ll check back with you in sep to see how you’re doing.

... I think that maybe I've just been squeezing my feet into narrow shows for too long? But I've got the perfect excuse to buy new sneakers now! 😂 It's still a journey but hopefully things will continue to improve and get better.
