I went to the dr recently when my foot (15 months post op lapidus bunion removal and big toe osteotomy with 4 screws and a plate). I have been experiencing pain, numbness, and tingling. I also have what I assumed was a screw coming out- a hard bumpy protrusion that was getting bigger. He did x-rays and said he wished the problem was as easy to fix as the hardware coming out. Apparently, I will eventually need surgery again. The big toe osteotomy area is failing and I have permanent nerve damage and loss of almost all big toe movement The protrusion is a growth on the bone. Anyone have similar issues? See less

I’m so sorry Bethany . Does the surgeon know why or how it happened ? I will say to keep you positive , move forward , keep looking for your light and things will get better I said this in recent post but this particular recovery and anytime I have hardship , difficult situations or whatever…I remind myself of that childhood book I /we we read , depending on your age of course but it’s called “Going on a Lion Hunt “ you can’t go under it , you can’t go over it , you got to go through it . It was the moral of the kids book and who would have thought 55 years later the book resonates. You will go through it and it will be resolved . Sending you positive !! healing vibes .

My surgery was just over a year ago (June 2024). Everything has been going well, but in the last several weeks I have noticed increasing numbness, tingling, and a hard bump that seems to be getting bigger. The bump doesn’t hurt, I can’t feel anything really when I press on it. Could this be my hardware/screws coming out?
