Yes, mine is similar. My surgeon wants to carry out further surgery to lengthen the tendon and reposition the toe. I'm just putting it off at the moment as I don't fancy being out of action again just yet.

Please reach out to your surgeon as that is not normal. Your toe should sit flat without lifting up like that. It could be for many reasons. Formed collagen fibers can cause joint tightness that limits the toe from resting flat. Surgeons adjust tendons and ligaments during surgery which can temporarily over-tighten the top of the foot. The bone may have been intentionally or excessively angled upward during realignment to prevent the bunion from returning. Wishing you the best.

Hi All, I recently went to a really good physio. I have bunions and she has given me exercises to get my feet working again. I also discovered that my pelvis which is lop sided owing to an old skiing injury is causing me to walk in such a way that it’s causing my bunion to get worse.

Yes just on one foot, I wear a spacer between the big and next toe. It helps lots and I’d rather this than the pain of bunions.

Mine looks exactly like that! I’m told it was over shortened during the chevron osteotomy. It does affect one’s gait a bit. I now have severe post traumatic arthritis in that toe, so next step is fusion😬hopefully then it will sit flat…
