Just had my post op visit (6 days.) Dr said healing looks good.

that is an amazing difference! I know you are happy you went through with the surgery! How bad was your pain?

Did your toes straighten up by themselves after bunion removed? Or did you have pins in to straighten them?

not gonna lie, it was painful. I needed to keep up with pain meds for sure. Foot surgery is no joke….. I have to have 1 more for a tailors bunion but I think I will wait a bit for that.

yes they did straighten out after. Except for the big toe, he put a pin to fuse and straighten it.

it's crazy how they all do stitches differently. He said for my stitches he will cut the knots off at the top and bottom and then pull the string out? I've never heard of that, but I suppose its better for scars?

thanks. Not so much anymore it’s swollen from walking since getting the walking boot.

when did you get yours done? I have been walking on both with a cane (just to the bathroom mostly) since day 1. He didn't mention I would need a boot ever. He said I would keep the sandals for walking for about 3 weeks and then transition to shoes...I think.

I don't think it's as bad as I read about. Maybe I worked myself for it to be worse so it seems better, but I vote to get it all done at once personally. You only have to recover once and don't have to worry about the fear of doing it again. I also think if I had one done I would have pushed myself to get up and moving way before I was supposed to. With two, you really have to rest and elevate so I think healing has a better chance. It's not like I have something to compare to, but I have done a lot of thinking.

lol I think I can relate to that. Can you image the limitations of a nose job if it had the same issues as a bunion surgery? Yikes lol

the difference from your two week to four week is crazy! It healed so much!

It surprised me as I’m T2 and have thyroid disorder which means I heal very slowly - usually!!

I thought it seemed early as well, but I was happy to get the nasty bandages off for better healing. There was blood on the original ones that I wish I wouldn't have seen. He also said people typically feel a bit better with new bandages and once they can see how things look. I agree. I also had xrays. I go back in two weeks.

it has a lot to do with exactly what procedure was done and how bad your bunion is. Also if it is MIS or regular bunion surgery etc. Also, different states and different countries have different protocols.

yes, I did think this ☺️. Just a lot to ask to do that walk (more than just popping to the toilet) so early. But the healing is good and that’s a great result

how soon after was this?

2 weeks

1 week post op for my left foot. My right foot got infected and looks gross so I won’t post that one. Had them done 6 weeks apart,

how did you know it was infected? They just took the bandage off and by the looks? I'm sorry.

I got my stitches out and the wound dehisced.

ouch. That sounds terrifying.

It has not been a pleasant experience.

how long was it stitched shut before it opened? New fear unlocked...

21 days. I can post a picture. I just don’t know how many other people want to see it. lol

maybe nest it? As in post a nest image and then your picture under a comment. That tells me people the picture is nested as a trigger so they don't have to look. Hard to explain...ha.

I'm glad you are better!! I got nervous yesterday because the top of my left one was bleeding when they took the bandage off. All they did was wipe it up and re-bandage. Hopefully it will close back up under there. Now I'm a little scared.

Ashley Ranum yes but just hoping I can wear shoes and do the exercises as have struggled with bending the toes at the moment. Hope all goes well for you x

had my operation on Wednesday 8th April. Had my dressing and stitches out Wednesday 22nd April . Then had small dressings on and kept changing them then only last weekend took them off to let the air in to heal. Still a bit swollen but elevate it when resting and use ice pack and anti inflammatory and painkillers when I need to. X

pre op appointment 6 weeks time 20th May for x ray and to see the surgeon. The surgeon was amazing to.
