Just wondering if anyone here has had hardware removed?

Just wondering if anyone here has had hardware removed? And if so what was their experience and recovery like? I'm 5 months post revision surgery and everytime I weight-bear my foot hurts a lot, I'm almost certain at this point it's a hardware issue (I have 14 screws and 2 plates between my first and second metatarsal) and I'll most likely need to have it removed so trying to see what others experiences were like.
