lots of pain in my ball of my big toe. I haven’t been formally diagnosed with a bunion but from looking at pictures and symptoms I am 99.9% sure that’s what it is. My problem is I work as a pet sitter/dog walker. How long will I not be able to walk after surgery? Even short distances. I have a lot of clients where is involved just going in letting the dog out in the backyard feeding them and then that’s it. I just don’t know what to expect. Also, what kind of sneakers does everyone wear? I don’t want sneakers. That will make me look like an old lady. See less

Agree see a podiatrist first a surgeon will definitely advise bunionectomy. I had the lapiplasty & yes you walk out of the surgery center with a non weight bearing boot. But you will Not be able to take care of pets for a few days as there will be alot of swelling & pain for at least 2 weeks. Im speaking from my own experience. Orthotics & correct sneakers is the place to start. The surgery is not an easy recovery
Marianne V Mae I had surgery 8/28 I was in a boot until October I wear Diadora wide sneakers It was difficult to get in a sneaker because of the swelling. My screw has a tiny bend and doctor stopped physical therapy and I am not to walk for exercise. Good Luck Find a podiatrist I went to 2 for second opinion.
