Clients with damaged, missing, or compromised-looking toenails are often the clients nail techs are taught to fear. But these are also the people who may need the most support, education, and proper care. This appointment started with the cleanup — carefully removing dead skin and buildup, reducing excess material, cleaning around the nail area, and preparing what natural nail she DOES have for her reconstruction. Toenail reconstruction isn’t about hiding the problem and sending somebody home. For my clients, it’s about creating a better-looking result while also educating them on what’s happening underneath, what they need to do at home, and how we can support a healthier foot journey as the natural nail continues to grow.
