Round one complete. Left the hospital at the 10:30 AM this morning. As of now, the nerve block has mostly held out and it I had a mix of general with it. Have some tingling (I have RSL from stenosis only a amphlication of the usual for me) and a few little pin pricks of pain, but otherwise so far so good. Have been advised to sleep with the boot on tonight. I return in two weeks. Because I have flat feet (collapsing arches with weight) and my age, doc decided to go conservative and forgo any upper foot fusion in case I need something done for that later. I will say, having a mild UTI had about killed me with this though. At least the bathroom is only about 10 feet away.

Nice how you have the proper boot. I’ve got the ugliest podilux shoe

oh wow, that’s gotta be rough. They actually sent me home with mine as soon as they confirmed I was having surgery and they found one in the office that fit.

I don’t blame you. I work for a hospital as well and would do the same. This one hurts a little, but it’s more from pressure of the foot resting against it so much. And being informed to sleep in it the first night has added to that. Sure it will feel better with a break tomorrow.

I had four streps. If it helps, just do your best to keep your weight on you heel and step up with your good foot, leaving your heal with weight only for a brief moment. If you have banister rails, use them to take off any any any additional weight you can. Had no issues thankfully doing that.

here’s hoping it lasts well into tomorrow for us and the pain is mild when it wanes 🙏 Mine was also at 8:00 🙂
