So question for everyone who had lapiplasty: My doctor said you’re essentially laid up for 8 weeks and anybody who needs to ‘get around’ shouldn’t do it. I had a 2 yr old and infant-is this doable and was the surgery that bad? I’ve tried the wide shoes and I’m still hurting

Try KT tape across the bunion from toe to inner arch. This soothes my foot.

Buy Men’s Trainers - they come in wider widths and they look the same as the women’s. Personally I like Brooks. It’s worth a try. I wouldn’t consider it with your daily activities. You will need live-in help if you go ahead with it. Do not go barefoot Wear flip-flops or Wear crocs and put your wide width shoes on as soon as you get out of bed. If you are flatfooted get premade orthotics at a local shoe store or at your foot doctor’s office.

I think with little ones you would need some additional help. For me, the first two weeks were rough. They are getting better (pain is more intermittent and improving). I’m heading into week 4 but still elevate my foot after I’ve been on it (using a scooter and heel walking in the boot. I would say you will need help with the kiddos for a few weeks. Best wishes!!

Had my bunion done 4 months ago and have a 2 and 5 yr old. Hard work the first 2 weeks and help at the key times of day - bedtimes, meals etc was essential. I’d say after 2 weeks I was hobbling around resuming all my duties all though absolutely should not have done 🙈It’s not impacted my recovery though thankfully.

I had it done with a surgeon who uses Ossio last year. I had to be non weight bearing for 2 weeks. They gave me crutches and discharge nurse told me to walk on my heel to get to the bathroom etc. It was doable for me because I had no pain just some soreness on day 5.

I had a bunionectomy 4 days ago, I was taking strong meds for the first three days and been off my feet the whole time apart from loo breaks, today is the first day with no real pain I’m heal walking with my crutches but hardly any pain

I had a bunion ectomy. To be honest the whole experience wasnt that bad. I was able to heel walking straight away. Has about 4 weeks off my feet then I was flat walking and 8 weeks back in a shoe and off I went. Yes it was painfull the first errl but after that it was fine . Just take the painkillers and don't over do it x

I really need it done too. My cousin acted like it wasnt that bad and someone said now they can give you a boot to wear. I don't know. My son is disabled but I think once hes in his chair I can manage. Im tired of my feet hurting so bad.

yes I would actually. I need the other doing too (I think - it’s got some painful arthritis which is the driver) but my husband will be working on our house this summer and winter so I can’t afford to get it done until next year because of needing to look after the children. I really needed my husband’s help those first 1-2 weeks and my mum also stayed with me for the first 5 days also which was a godsend. If you have support I’d say go for it. We all have our own personal circumstances though and I couldn’t have done it with an infant as she was only BF and wouldn’t take a bottle 🫠 best of luck! X

unless hers was not as bad as mine she wore a boot but not sire when she was able to start on the boot but I need both done and I'm scared if they aren't both done then I won't go back for the 2nd(if it's was painful)
