This September marks two years since my first visit to the podiatrist. I started with laser treatment—initially for nearly a year—but it didn't work. Then I stopped going for a while due to personal reasons and waited until March of this year to resume treatment; I was prescribed terbinafine for six months, and I’ll finish taking the pills in a month. The first pic is from September 2024, and the second is from today! I didn't experience any side effects with the terbinafine.

Nice! I just finished 6 months of Terbinafine (pulse dosing) and will start my next round this month (one week on, 3 weeks off). No side effects and it’s helping but the nail growth is taking a really long time.

Did you have to do labs to check on liver levels?

The ultimate question is, will it return in the soon future. Supposedly this is a gut issue from internally, candida overgrowth fungus overgrowth from what I understand.

My 6months of terbinafine worked... my 3 separate 3 month stints did not...

Community comment#5

Mike did the same. Until I came off the tablets and the fungal nail returned in a matter of weeks 🙈🙈🙈

Congratulations!

Nice! I took terbinafine SID x 3 months. It helped overall but 18 months after treatment my toenails are still thick and I’m wondering if I might have to retreat. I ended up getting spontaneous itchy, raised hives all over around the 8 week mark of being on it. It was awful, but at the same time not as awful as the insecurity my toenail fungus brought me lol. That was my only side effect along with intermittent nausea but taking it before bed helped.

I take a 7 day course once a month for about a year or so. Its definitely working and having no effect on my liver or organs.

I also started in March and will finish in one month! I also have no side effects. I wish I would have done terbinafine sooner!

Your nails grow super fast!!!

ArticulateStrawberry3582 How was your dosing of Terbinafine? Daily for 6 months or pulse dosing like mine (rotation of one week on meds, followed by 3 weeks off for 6 months)? I feel like mine is slow due to the pulse dose rotation but I’ve had no side effects this way.

ArticulateStrawberry3582 wow I was told no longer than 3 months because medicine is not great for your liver. Took blood test at beginning at 6 weeks and at the complete of the meds.

Even if it did return, this is a huge improvement and I’d take that as a win. Adding to your gut comment though, I went off sugar for two months and saw huge improvements. It was incredible. Didn’t cure it, but definitely helped with certain symptoms.

I didn't do sugars for 4 months and it didn't change mine. Terbinafine also worked for me. I put econazole nitrate 1% on for a few months after finishing and that seemed to keep it away for me.

no they won’t give me it again and I don’t want it again. It’s really nasty stuff for your body and kidney. I am currently fighting it externally with numerous different treatment. The foot clinic said I will likely be fending it off forever now unless I get the nail surgically removed for good 😖

Which laser?

Mines looks like yours, have never considered Lazer. What age did you get yours/how long did you have it?
