I was told no icing the foot because it retards healing. It's better to ice behind your knee.

have questions? Get Answers! One week post MIS & the bottom of my big toe hurts really badly today. Yesterday surgeon unwrapped it and said it looked good - ok to take boot off for sleeping, still on for walking. Any thoughts? OTC meds? Or concern?

I’m 3 weeks post op and still taking ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock. When I had the dressing changed at 1 week, my foot was unbelievably tender. I was terrified for anything to touch it. A friend who is a PT recommended that I use a dry washcloth and gently rub it across my foot for a minute or so to wake up the nerves and shock them out of being on high alert. I did this a few times a day and it really helped with decreasing sensitivity. You could also try icing and elevating.

I experienced increased pain when my doc removed my NWB cast/splint and sutures. Went into a walking boot. I believe I had more swelling with the activity and possibly less support? Eventually it resolved.

Brooks Kapp I did not. I was walking same day, but every surgery is different.

I used both crutches and the scooter both times. First foot was way worse so I used the scooter more, this time healing went much faster so I was on the scooter for a week or so and switched to crutches when I could feel I was able to start using my foot
