With minimally invasive how many weeks did you take off work and what is your profession? Interested in knowing about people that have a job that does not allow for much resting or sitting. I am a SPED teacher who is scheduled to go back to work on the 13th of January. I had my surgery on the 18th of December. I asked this question to another bunion group but feel like maybe they all had more extensive surgeries? Some people were taking off gobs of time. Just trying to wrap my head around if I will be ready to go back. I teach at an elementary school and would have almost zero time to prop my foot up. Sometimes due to behaviors we don’t even get our preps or lunches.

I am a teaching assistant at an elementary school. I work with children who are autistic but highly functioning. I am on my feet a lot. I had minimally invasive done November 18th and went back to work December 9th. I walked slowly the first week and still prop my foot up during the day when I have the chance.
were you in pain by the end of the day or were you glad you went back when you did?
I was not in any pain. The first day back I was very tired and my feet hurt a little but each day it got easier.
I had surgery on Dec 13th. I am still in a cast, no weight bearing until at least 1/21 when I return to the drs. I’m going back to work on 1/6. My dr was not very thrilled I asked up go back but I honestly don’t have a lot of days yo use. I teach middle school special ed. I have great kids this year and a lot of support with my staff. I will use a knee scooter because I can NOT use crutches! lol I’m bringing in an extra pair of crutches to leave there in case I need them to navigate around my classroom as well as a pillow for when I prop my feet. I don’t know if my surgery is considered minimally invasive or not. 2 toes and the plantar plate repair.
I’m retired from teaching and had surgery Oct30. I’d say 6 weeks.
