I am 9 months post op. Still swelling many shoes won’t fit - big toe and ball of foot swollen. I had chevron akin osteotomy so one screw and a clip - not happy with outcome but could be worse. Toe just grazes the ground. Am going to wait til a year or more and consider taking Clip out.

Wondering is anyone still on this page after a year post-op?
Wondering is anyone still on this page after a year post-op? I “signed out” 6 months ago when I was feeling good and back to normal activities. My bunion surgery ( big toe repositioned with rod and two screws, joint shaved, second toe straightened with rod and screws) was 14 months ago, cleared and discharged from surgical care. Now I’m finding to that my big toe has lifted, doesn’t quite touch the floor when standing . I’m also experiencing my foot swelling again after moderate walking . Is any of this normal? To be expected?

It’s been 2 years my foot swells where the metal plate is
I am almost 2 months post-op. I have difficulty walking because of a lump under the ball of my foot. And my big toe is lifted and will not touch the ground. It is painful to try and put weight on the foot.
After surgery number …. 6 I believe, and 9 months post op from the last one I am still on the struggle bus. My big toe does not touch the ground. And the swelling and pain is ridiculous
Post a X-ray
I’m still here , 2 years post on the 18th of sept just for support .. 😊
I am here. First surgery I stayed in the group but didn’t really follow often, because I was doing really well. 8 months later redo surgery. I’m here for the duration I do believe. I’m 5 months post surgery (2nd one). Comments like yours and others keeps me here, as well as the successful outcomes too. Keeps me hopeful
Yup. I’m 17 months post-op on my l-foot and 10 wks on my right. I believe the swelling is normal beyond a year. We each heal differently. So, swelling can stop and then return after a certain time due to increased activity. Now, I’d be worried about the toe lifting all of a sudden as it’s something “new”. I think you should contact your surgeon to be evaluated.
3 years post op.
I’m a year post op. Still having pain. Operation not solved anything and surgeon just shrugged and says they don’t always work! I’m in the UK
I feel you! I was still having swelling and pain after 2 months and insisted on PT. It really helped. They showed me many simple foot movements and exercises that I’m still using My problem now developed after most of the other pain went away.
I had floating toes at 13 weeks and once the swelling eased off they reached the ground , but I remember having to stretch them all back and forth before getting out of bed .. orthopedic said it was normal for floating toes at my stage and once I was fully walking it became better but I did do stretches .. even though it hurts you need to do it ..
I’m very nervous about that…. After the surgery I said “never again”.
my toe is way too painful for pt. Can't even touch it
seek help from your surgeon ! It shouldn’t be that sensitive
ouch! That’s a bit long. So sorry
I am a little over a year and experiencing more pain in the whole area that was operated on.
I'm 14 months post ... both feet/no plates. Tingling I toes but in regular shoes and no swelling.
I’m still here, 14 months past second foot. 😍
