Shoe Recommendation for Severe Bunion - cushioned/extra wide Good Day, My mother and I have a trip coming up - it will involve quite a bit of walking. My mother has a MASSIVE bunion (large toe) that should have been removed over a decade ago. She did not because she was afraid of surgery and now regrets it. The damage is done - her toes overlap and the bottom of the ball of her foot essentially lacks cushion. Her bunion also HURTS so avoid anything that touches it - she doesn't wear shoes. She only can tolerate Thong Sandals - specifically Oofos Thong Sandals. Slider Sandals don't work Living in FL - Oofos Thong Sandals work. But they are impractical in travel/colder/harsher terrain. So looking for options - extra wide (otherwise we have to size up a lot making walking dangerous in rougher terrain) and super cushion. OR OPEN to any creative advice/thoughts/ideas!! A lot of the "wider" shoes - I don't know, aren't exactly wide in the appropriate location where the bunion lies. Podiatrist wasn't much help - said surgery won't do much for her at this point and just to find something that works. Thanks!
