Asking for a little . Have been dealing with what my doctor believes is a entrapped nerve 6 months out from bunion surgery. On Gabapentin (which I hate …doesn’t help pain either) and 5MG Oxycodone..which I want to STOP asap). FINALLY got my surgeon to take me seriously about the pain and yesterday he gave me a cortisone shot in tissues surrounding the nerve in hopes that it will loosen up toes and release nerve. So far today pain is unchanged..maybe slightly worse just from pain of injection. I am really hoping I notice some relief ! Thank u

I'm sorry you're going through the same thing..I have had 5 foot surgeries including bunion surgery.. my last one was in January of this year where they removed a large nerve and bone and had fusion done on 2 toes.. still in alot of pain and I to am on gabapentin and oxycodone..I get cortisone injections in both heels every 4 months which really helps but they are painful to get..I pray we both get some relief soon!🙏❤
Any foot pain is horrible. I go through sneakers all the time. I have plantar fasciitis with heel spurs and toe pain. The Cortisone inj did help me for over a year. Good look with inj.
I had those injections in my foot, so painful, i wouldnt have minded but they did nothing at all for my foot!
I’m not sure it’ll work, but it takes at least 3 days before you feel any the relief from a cortisone shot (and sometimes up to a week). Give it that long to see. Hope you do!
Me too. I’m unable to much if anything that I used to enjoy doing. It’s truly agony. The one thing I’d say about surgery is that it’s a last resort. If you’ve done everything else and there are no other alternatives and the pain is that bad (and lasted so long) I’d proceed. Just make sure you have a doctor in whom you have confidence and can trust. I’d definitely make sure to have a second opinion on this too.
oh wow! I am so sorry ! My surgeon did say of this does not help (and I don’t know how long it will take IF it does help ..right now pain is worse .ugh!) but next step would be a series of alcohol injections to deaden nerve and of that doesn’t help then surgery to do in and simply remove the nerve which would mean loss of feeling in my big toe (which I don’t have anyway). I am almost ready to say JUST DO THE SURGERY!). I know he and my PCP want me off of oxycodone as soon as possible and so do I , but right now it is all that takes the edge off the pain ..I am terrified of how it would feel without it! 🙏🏻 for u was well 🧡

I have a very painful foot condition, all the consultants would call it was cavonous foot, i have very high insteps, the highest they had ever seen!
ya..it has been 5 days now and no chance at all …pain is unchanged 😞
very sorry to hear. They’re not helping me either. I’d still give it a little more time. I did have one and it took 7-10 days to kick in. Had a month of relief but then the pain came back. They’re slow-acting and their effects normally wear off within a couple or a few months.
thanks …it is so frustrating…I just want my old life back …if this doesn’t work I am just going to tell surgeon I want the surgery ..this has gone on too long, and even if it does work but only lasts a short time I would rather just get a permanent fix but also the thought of another surgery scares me after how this one has gone
be careful with neuroma surgery - I had it and am in worse pain now. A doctor I saw recently said 20% of people end up in worse pain.
I am very sorry to hear that. If u don’t mind could u share the circumstances of ur surgery? Was it a Morton’s Neuroma? Was it a neuroma that happened after surgery. I have the surgery scheduled now for this Friday. My surgeon said he believes it is my best option to relieve the pain. I am so anxious (and I have a 2nd and 3rd opinion…both of which said structurally everything looks good and my symptoms do “sound like could be nerve compression” but didn’t verify it). But I am in so much pain even on pain meds now it is becoming unbearable. Surgery was a very difficult decision. I would really like to hear ur story if U don’t mind. It is never to late for me to change my mind about surgery and look for other options…I am just about at the end of my tolerance 🤯. Thank u 🧡
I’m quite sure mine was structural instead. I asked the surgeon to just decompress it but afterwards he said that wouldn’t have worked. Anyway, immediately after surgery, when the block wore off, I had this constant burning pain. That was 3 over 3 years ago. It has dulled a bit but still burns in the evening or with much walking. So, anyway the surgery just made things worse for me. I’ve not found anyone who can help me since then regarding this issue. I had a very reputable orthopedic surgeon do it; obviously very disappointing. Maybe you will have better luck. Another surgeon recently told me 20% of people who have this surgery turn out like me. Hopefully you will be more fortunate than me.
