I’m having bunion surgery and two bone spurs removed next week, do I need a walker? Recommendations would be great there are so many options TIA

What kind of bunion surgery - there are different procedures with different recovery instructions. Will you be non-weight bearing? If so, I suggest a knee scooter to keep that foot off of the ground.

I used a cane when I was wearing my walking boot. The pain was minimal.

If you receive a recovery shoe like mine you will not need any other aids.

Hi, I had bunion and spur removed and straighten out little toe done 3 weeks ago. Yes get a walking aid. I got a knee scooter and a walking frame. Didn't do crutches.

Rhonda I’m curious where the two bone spurs are that you are having removed? If you don’t mind me asking. And I hope your procedure goes well.

I got a Stander walker. Expensive but worth it. I probably will do the other foot down the road 🤷‍♀️

they make a suggestion if you want support use a walker or crutches. But since I’ve never been through this I don’t know what I would need.

yes and doctor’s paperwork says may use walker for balance

you must have great balance and a strong core. I was concerned that the pain killers would throw off my balance.

I have two spurs one on my littlest toe and one on the big toe. I’m having bunion surgery with Ossio fiber screw and two staples. They are absorbed by the bones and so no metal removed later. Also my dr is releasing tendons in several toes.

thank you for responding. I hope it goes well for you and recovery is nothing short of amazing. I just saw my podiatrist the middle of August and got this x-ray. Waiting for an MRI now. I was worried about what appeared to look like bone spurs, to me anyway, between second and third toe. He said those were nerves, and is suspecting Morton’s neuroma . But will confirm after MRI is done. So I was curious 👀
