Just joined this group today after a diagnosis by my Podiatrist 2 weeks ago of PF. But reading through here, I wonder if in fact I do have PF? 2 weeks ago i was doing my morning walk - usually around 2 miles, when about half way my heel began to hurt. It didnt take lomg for the pain to occur in my heel, near the front, below the inside of the ankle, thru my instep and to the base of my toes. My walk ended at about 1 1/2 miles. Went to podiatrist who did xray & ultrasound. She said I was just barely over 4, which isnt bad. But concluded I had PF. Gave me a cortisone shot, and did a wrap of the foot. 2 days later pain was close to gone. For the next 2 weeks i did nothing more than short walks around block, wearing brooks run ing shoes, and when in house wearing oofos. They felt great! Also iced several times a day. So 2 days ago i decided to start walking again, but to,take it easy. At about a mile, pain came back - mainly at base of toes, very slight in heels. Another thing - when i wake up in morning there is no pain, but as the day goes on, pain starts. Am i “ barking up the wrong tree?”@

If your pain is at the base of your toes and ones on later after waking, I’d say maybe a Morton’s Neuroma. It’s possible to have both Morton’s neuroma and plantar fasciitis at the same time. I do.

Please don’t waste time on podiatrist. Go to orthopedic doctor and have them order a MRI

Should have added initially - 5 years ago i had a surgery that went bad and ended up causing alight damage to my femoral nerve on that side. Since thrn I’ve consistently had fluid accumulation right at the top of my socks - no matter what type nor how high. Since this bout of pain 2 weeks ago, ni fluid accumulation. Also, in 6 weeks we are headed to portugal where i expect to be doing LOTS of walking on hard uneven surfaces. From what I am reading, PF is long lasting, but it’s just an issue of pain, not damage if i continue to walk? Just ibuprofen or tylenol? Topical lidocaine?

This is me! Cortisone shot in Aug, very little pain. No pain in the morning. But when I run...I can definitely feel it. Then I walk - totally fine. I went back to the podiatrist and asked him about it maybe being a nerve entrapment, or tendonitis, or a heel bursitis. He said no to all of them. Now, I'm no doctor but it feel way different than when i had PF. I am almost certain its something else. And I probably had both at the same time. The PF was relieved by the Shot, but now this other pain is surfacing. Either way, the recovering is the same. Ice, stretch, and strengthen the foot muscles with progressive calf raises. Best of luck!
