Yes, it is. That's what its supposed to be doing. Making your body think your foot is hurting so it sends help to heal it. If you've had FP for sometime your body forgets about healing it, so needs a little help.

I also had shockwave therapy to treat my plantar fasciitis. It took about five sessions. I started the therapy on the lowest setting, and by the third, I was on the highest setting. In terms of pain, there was gradual pain building up until I got to the most advanced setting. It’s been two weeks since my last session and my plantar fasciitis pain is almost 90% gone. He did do the shockwave therapy on my calves also. That made a big difference in terms of pain I was feeling. But it helped a lot, I think it was shockwave therapy that got rid of this plantar fasciitis for me. I tried stretching rolling a ball going for physiotherapy acupuncture. Nothing else worked.
It took until my last session (5 weeks) for me to feel better, but then I felt a lot better. While getting shockwave, do not take any anti-inflammatories (like ibuprofen) and baby your foot. Pause PT exercises, just gentle stretching, no long walks, hikes or running. This what really helped me
I just had my 4th shockwave out of 6 this week. After my 3rd shockwave I was experiencing so much increased pain. I was worried as well. When I went in a few days ago for my 4th session I told my doctor this and she said it is totally normal and expected. My feet feel less pain today after this round. Hoping this heals me. I also have a small tear. It’s been a frustrating coarse. I did 6 rounds of prolotherapy before this. Fingers crossed!
It is mildly painful, but I have noticed marked improvement after 6 sessions. At first, no noticeable improvement. But at about session 5, I started noticing small incremental improvement which is continuing. I have session 7 today.
It's normal but talk to the person doing it
I feel no pain after the treatment I also do cupping on my calves tho
thank you that makes sense I was worried bc I thought it would only be painful for the first 1-2 days after not a week later but the way you described it makes sense thank you!
why not anti inflammatorys? My therapist said nothing about this
what my podiatrist said is that shockwave works, in part, by getting your body to restart the healing process and part that includes allowing some level of inflammation. Anti inflammatories shut that down. Also too much exercises causes the healing to become disorganized so the new fibers won’t to strong. His advise was to stay off the anti inflammatories, baby my foot, and use a night splint
thank you so much for explaining this to me. Very valuable and makes sense, but my therapist has not mentioned this part.
