I have heel Spurs pain that could not walk for even 1 mile. Consider surgery but very afraid. Can someone who had this type of surgery share your experience for surgery recovery time and what should one do prior to and after surgery. Thank you!

There are fairly many podiatrists that do heel surgery through an incision of less than 3/4 inch. Minimal incision foot surgery. I did these for over two decades. Very high success rate. No bad results

I had day surgery in hospital with an orthopaedic surgeon to remove a nasty, big , heel spur. As soon as I woke up, I knew it was a success because the pain was just gone. It was a six week recovery, stiches came out after around 2 weeks, and that's when I could finally start to weight bare.

Problem is, that was in 2016. It has now grown back, so please make sure you treat what is causing the spur to grow.

did it take you months to recover and get back to normal activities? Now the Spurs are coming back, do you still have ore pain? Thanks

I had 6 weeks off work, and I did struggle a little bit when I went back with fatigue and things. Any pain in my foot was from the incision. Now that the spur is back, it hurts occasionally, if I'm on my feet for too long, but it's nowhere near like it was before.

thank you for your informed information. I have to make my decisions soon, sometimes walking it hurts a little but it hurts so much with sharp pain the next day.

to me, when it was at it's worst, it felt like there was a nail embedded in my foot, and that nail was also on fire. That's the only way I could describe it to someone.
