Bilateral scarf/akin surgery booked for the 9th of feb.... I am so excited .. who has had this surgery?? any tips??

If you search this group, you'll find a ton of posts with this combo surgery and great tips to boot! I had Lapiplasty about 6 weeks ago and am very happy with progress so far. Definitely invest in a knee scooter and ice packs or ice booties because that really helped control pain and swelling. Good luck!
What is a knee scooter please? I’m in the uk and certainly this was never suggested to me!
I’m 9 days post op and was off crutches by day 4 - have had no need for a scooter. The shoe given to me allows for only heal weight bearing and is fine. Off all pain meds by day 4 as well. Saw surgeon on Thursday - now wearing toe alignment corrector for next 5 weeks along with the shoe. Back to work next Friday. I’m in the UK.
ohhh thank you .... i cant do a scooter as im having both done at the same time ... 6 weeks post is awesome how you going with weight bearing?
oh yeah sorry I forgot you're having both feet done! So far so good but it's a bit of a roller coaster ... Some lingering numbness and nerve zaps but they are decreasing. PT is awesome and helping a ton so definitely do that as soon as your surgeon gives you the green light.
I’m in the Uk too. A knee scooter means you rest on the scooter on your knee so that you are not weightbearing on the operated foot. I have had no need for one as off crutches by day 4 and getting around fine. I’m now day 9 post-op.
Thank you. I had surgery 3 months ago do I’m well on the way to recovery. I just used crutches - I can’t imagine using one of those scooters!!!
what surgery did you have? The time when you can walk and do weight bearing activity varies DRAMATICALLY by surgery type.
a scarf and akin - which is what the original post was about otherwise I wouldn’t have commented because I know recovery times etc differ. I also had a 2nd PIP fusion.

just the right foot - thankfully zero pain in the left so far so hopefully that’ll stay like that x
