so I did have testing done.

I don’t have fungus anywhere else on me or in me. I’ve been to multiple specialist, dermatologist and testing. It was just those 3 toes. My nails have actually fallen off and grew back with fungus but never spread. I didn’t have fungus on my skin. The dr I seen has said he seen this a lot with out explanation but the only way to get rid of it is removing permanent of the nails within means inside your toe. Not just removing the nails.

yes. There is an option to permanently remove nails or just remove them and have them regrow. That’s why it’s important to discuss the options with your doctor

correct. My nails feel off a lot . Like completely by themselves fell off they were so infected and they regrew with the fungus

? The process I went through does permanently remove the nail. The chemical goes down into your toe in the root bed where the nail grows and it chemically burns it so it can’t regrow back ever. I didn’t just have them removed.

this is what I wonder about. Like what if some people just have internal infection and it makes it impossible to remove nail fungus

exactly. My old derm said 20 years ago it was from pedicures. Just polish it. Doctors don’t know anything about root causes.

so I got this from when I was in Texas in the gulf coast and wasn’t wearing any shoes. I contacted a fungus from the shore within the waters or from walking around. Since I had been camping for over a week without shoes. Since I’ve had this fungus that I can’t get rid of.

sorry I’m panicking because I want hope I can permanently get rid of this without permanently removing my pretty nails and never being able to get another pedicure. 😞 that’s so very depressing

oh no. Sorry. You are removing your nails permanently. So there are no nail. But once your skin is fully healed I don’t see why you can’t paint the skin?? That’s what I fully intend to do with the place I go for pedicures. No shame in my game

the chemical they used will get down into the root where your nail grows where the fungus comes from, that is what makes this permanent removal and not just removing my nail. I choose the option to have it go into my bed of nail inside my toes so it can’t regrow and removing the fungus.

yeah. The chemical gets down into your toe internally where your the root of your toenail grows inside your toe. It’s burning off all that. My fungal never spreads. For 20yrs. So it was safe to assume it was localized to those areas. Not through out my body. I’ve been to other drs I’ve had blood work done. I’ve had screen graphs actually taken of other areas to see if it’s spreading with out symptoms.

yes, because the fish blood is not getting to the area to fight it off as much. Same for diabetics. I have anaemia which affects blood flow too.

and I chose the permanent removal not just removing my nails. So my nails are not regrowing back. The chemical they used they placed it down into the nail bed into the root of my nail where your nail grows and the fungus comes from. My nails were damaged, falling off, hardening at sometimes, and to the point I couldn’t get my nails done, polished, nothing. They were getting caught on things when they were breaking, overall it was a hassle. 20yrs of treatments with little to no results. I’d rather have no nails with no fungus.

Insurance will not cover it if being done for cosmetic purposes. When you make an appointment to see the Dr tell them they your nails are have become painful, where discomfort gets worse with shoes on, and it’s affecting your day to day quality of life. This way it’s done as a medical procedure and insurance will cover it. Because a podiatrist is a specialist, this wall fall under your Co-Pay. It was $30 a visit for me with insurance.

Anonymous member 351 I lost m8ne because of steal toed boots, they just look like a toe with no nail! I glued on artificial toe nails because it was summer and sandal weather! Not sure if that would be a good idea after fungus?

Anonymous member 430 oh no. Overall yes I had 6 shots done. But each time, they did a cold spray first which also has numbing properties to help before the shot. I had my knee replaced and had to have shots in my knee. This was nothing compared to that. I’ve also had 3 c-sections and I’d take this over that. I’m sorry you had such a bad experience.

I had all 10 of mine removed. So it can be done. I’m not sure any Dr would do all 10 at one time, as the risk of infection high and your inability to walk would be affect your day to day activities for a few days. I had 2 of mine removed each visit so that could go back to work. So it took 5 visits.

over the beginning of summer I sliced my thumb on a mandaline vegetable slicer and needed stitches and those injections omg I cried like a baby and felt both after that I knew there was no way I could have my toe done.

Nail Removal or Avulsion only removes the toenail and leaves the matrix intact so that a new nail can grow back. Nail Matrixectomy also removes the entire toenail but Dr then applys phenol to the exposed nail bed, destroying it so that a new nail will never grow back.

1000 times better than with infected toenails. Honestly you really can’t tell I don’t have toenails, but I have a darker skin tone. People don’t even notice and only realize it after being told.

What exactly did you do?

i peeled the garlic and cut in thin slices. Put a slice on toe nail and wrap with bandaid. Sleep like that and remove in the morning. It worked for me. O and i also soak the nail with 10% peroxide

This was last week. It started to weep and itch. Dr said it’s normal it’s healing.

it’s the skin healing. I guess in a way? It doesn’t feel like a normal scab though like when they are rough. Maybe when I can get to a point where I can leave my band aid off ask the time it will be rough. Right now it’s soft like your normal skin on your toe.

What do they look like now? Are you still happy with your decision?
