Speaking of the new SW policy…regarding seats. What have you been experiencing? What is the best choice on booking? How do you feel about all these new “fees” for seats? The flight last month I paid for an “upgraded seat”. There were people around me that said they didn’t pay? The flight I was just I paid for a standard seat (because I at least like to know my seat number). I picked as close to the front without an additional fee. After takeoff I asked the person next to me if he always picked standard. He said he always picks basic. I paid more money than he did but we sat together. Also I noticed lots of empty seats in the front but the stewart said I couldn’t move to one because SW has a new policy to PROTECT those seats unless paid. We were all squeezed 3 in a row with plenty of empty rows. I am wondering what the truth is since I have been told two different stories. Can people move to a better seat if the upgraded seats aren’t sold by check in? See less Stefani Rizer All the flights I’ve been on have not allowed people to move. Paul L Fisher As for moving, no. People have paid for or earned the other seats and if SW just gives them away, what would be the point of me earning status? In addition, people in those seats get free drinks and better snacks. Just think of an airline that has a real first class. They don’t allow people to move into those seats.
